Unfortunately, I am unable to access the school, so I cannot view the I-Movies to choose category winners. They were all great and very different. Don't forget the purpose of the media assignment - to inform students about the short and long term effects of alcohol. Most groups clearly showed those short-term effects after moderate to high doses of alcohol.

Report cards were taken home today. I was so excited to give out your report cards, that I may have accidentally given them out a day early. If you have a sibling who did not receive their report card, they will receive it tomorrow. Congratulations to all students!

We had a fun day playing board games, learning with Mathletics and making slime. Special thank you to Rylie in grade 8 who patiently worked with each student to make slime.

We didn't get time to watch our I-Movies..... for sure tomorrow! I heard the French plays were wonderful. Bravo!

Tomorrow is our mini-stick tournament. If you are participating, don't forget your mini-stick.

Math
Today we talked about probability language. Can you think of an example or event that you would each of the following phrases?

Reminders:

• Complete Mathletics assignments (try the assignment on nets).
• Bring a board game for tomorrow.
• If you signed up for the Mini-Sticks tournament, make sure you have your mini-stick at school on WEDNESDAY.
• Tomorrow you will receive your report card and a folder full of assessment for the term. Bring a plastic shopping bag. Some of you forgot your notebooks at school.
• Agenda should be brought to school.

Math
Most students have a much better understanding of proper fractions, improper fractions, mixed numbers and decimals. Placement on a number line is also improving.

Today we began our discussion on prisms and pyramids. What is the difference between a prism and a pyramid? What are faces? Edges? Vertices?



Many students are still unable find the product or quotient of multi-digit numbers. This is a critical skill to be ready for the next grade. If you need a copy of the Study Guide, please let me know.  We will have another quiz on 2-digit x 2-digit multiplication and long division.

Family Life
Today in Family Life we talked about what happens from the moment of conception until a baby is born. We also talked about the different kinds of twin. Do you remember the difference between identical and fraternal twins?

Tonight we salute our graduates and wish them success and happiness on the next journey in their lives.... high school! If you see a grade eight over the next week, wish them good luck.

We had a wonderful day at Spencer Lodge. We climbed high ropes, zig-zagged like tight rope walkers, built shelters like First Nations peoples, used science to balance a whale ship and played games of precision...SQUIRT!
