Writing
Writing an effective lead was difficult for some students. The purpose of the lead is to hook the reader into reading your writing and introduce your topic. It should leave the reader wondering and wanting to read more. Some examples modeled in class:

Have you ever wondered what goes on in the mind of a kindergarten student? Sit back and relax while I tell you about my adorable kindergarten buddy, John.

Silly, talkative and mischievous  are just a few words to describe this unforgettable four year old. No further introductions are needed for my junior kindergarten buddy, Sally.

Tearing through the schoolyard at record-breaking speed and leaping off playground equipment. No, it's not superman. It's my larger-than-life kindergarten buddy, Peter.

The sentence in blue is the hook and the red is the topic sentence. Together they make the lead of your paragraph.

Some students still have not finished typing up their bumped up summary of "Dictionary Dave".  You will have to stay in for recess on Friday to finish.

Math
Our next topic in numeracy is MONEY. Counting and finding different ways to represent a certain amount of money.
Some practice games to get ready:
