Math
Geometry test TOMORROW. Please review questions posted on blog on the weekend. Grade 4, there are many ways to sort quadrilaterals using a chart or table. You can sort them according to names e.g. trapezoids, parallelograms, squares, rectangles, kites or you can sort them according to properties e.g. right angles, no right angles or parallel sides, no parallel sides. You can sort them into two groups, three groups, four groups. It doesn't matter as long as you sort them correctly to fit your sorting rules (headings of your chart or table).

A Venn diagram is similar to the chart, but you are arranging the shapes visually. Do not use the same sorting rules for the chart and Venn diagram. Basically you are sorting the shapes two different ways. The challenge with the Venn diagram is to try to get shapes if possible, in all the areas of the Venn diagram.

Grade 5, practice constructing triangles. Precision is important. Think about the question with the cards. Can you draw an obtuse-angles scalene triangle? Can you draw a right-angled isosceles triangle? Can you draw a right-angled equilateral triangle?

Science
Use the blog to study for your Rocks and Minerals test on WEDNESDAY.

Reading
We'll have a reading test on FRIDAY instead of Thursday. It will give you a bit more time to re-read the stories in the unit. Your test will have:

  • multiply choice questions
  • short answer questions (using part of the question in your answer)
  • making a connection
  • summarizing
  • characteristics of a narrative
  • APE question about the main idea or author's message
You will be allowed to use your textbook for your test, but not your notebook. Use the anchor charts posted in the class.
