Today we celebrated Shrove Tuesday. Tomorrow we begin the holiest season of the Church year, Lent. Think about something that you can sacrifice during the season and something that you can do to grow closer to Christ. We will be celebrating Ash Wednesday mass at 1:30 pm at the school. Parents are most welcome.
Where do the ashes come from? Think about what Father John and Caitlyn were doing today in the school yard. Why do we put ashes on our foreheads? Father John said that the ashes show us that we are ___________ without ____________. Watch the video below about Ash Wednesday and Lent:

What are we called to do during Lent?
Math
Many students had problems with the test today. You are forgetting that subtraction is adding up. So when change is given back to you, cashiers will add up to make sure you receive the correct amount. For example, if you gave a cashier $10.00 and he or she said to you....
"45 cents makes $7.00 and $3.00 makes $10.00. What was your change? What was the cost of your purchases?
Your change is $0.45 + $3.00 = $3.45
So if you gave the cashier $10.00 what was the original cost? $10.00 - $3.45 = $6.55
Multiplication:
Everyone received either flashcards or a multiplication bag. Your homework is to practice. DO NOT FORGET anything at home. Someone has to use your resource tomorrow.
Social Studies
Work on your mind map at home. Think about the costs of mining and not only forestry but pulp and paper mills.
Watch video on paper making. What happens at each step? How could that be harmful?

Reminders:
- Many students have not remitted money and permission forms for the upcoming French concert. They are due on FRIDAY.
