Happy Weekend!
Literacy
Sometimes extraordinary events happen in the world and authors want to share the story with the others. That's what happened in the narrative "Hero Cat". Here's a little video clip about Scarlett:

Almost all of you were able to identify the characteristics of this narrative and write an example from the text for each. Bravo!

Remember, when you write your stretchy sentences, to print neatly, check your spelling and USE YOUR BOOK OF LISTS. You cannot expand your vocabulary if you are not tuning into interesting words in your book!

Math
Many of you are still having difficulty writing a number different ways. I think perhaps you are getting confused with what each way is called. So for tomorrow, I want you to come to school with all the different ways you can show the number
6837 (Grade 4) or
26 837 (Grade 5).

Please make sure when you come in on Monday morning you complete any corrections in your math notebook. If you are unsure, you must come to see me at recesses.

Social Studies
We are working on having a bit of schema for our upcoming unit in Social Studies. You must know the continents and oceans of the world, provinces, territories and capitals of Canada. Just like math facts, you have to learn them.

Use the links from September 19 to play games to learn capitals and provinces.
Make sure your three maps are complete for Monday. If they are not coloured (map of provinces and territories only) and neatly labeled, you will have to redo them.

Reminders:

  • Don't forget to bring in your freshly laundered  Green Nighthawks shirt ASAP
  • Toonie for Terry on Thursday (Terry Fox Run)
  • If your parent(s) didn't get a Fresh Grade e-mail, please let me know
