Still some confusion about the different ways to express numbers in expanded form. Here are the three ways:
Express 38 935 in expanded
form.

Numbers and Words:
3 ten thousands + 8 thousands + 9 hundreds + 3 tens + 5 ones
30 000 + 8000 + 900 + 30 + 5
How you read the number is words:
thirty-eight thousand nine hundred thirty-five
Express the following number in expanded form (3 ways):
7309
Grade 5
Still some confusion with regards to expressing numbers using different base-ten blocks. Again, using a place value chart is very important.
If you take one away from a place value you regroup it as 10.
Try these:
How many hundreds in 89 000?
How many thousands?
How many tens?
Express the number using the least number of blocks.
Express the number using 98 blocks.
Writing
Some "fantastic" words were used today to bump-up our stretchy sentences. Remember, start with a simple sentence and then use your Book of Lists or Thesaurus to find jazzy or descriptive words.
