Just returned from my Algebra workshop. I learned so much and can't wait to try all the cool activities next term.

Math
The first two pages of the math test were completed very well. I'll try to have it marked for tomorrow. It was long, but you persevered. BRAVO!

Make sure you complete your booklet up to the second last page. So far you should be able to:
  • Classify angles (acute, right, obtuse, straight)
  • Compare angles to benchmark angles (half a right angle, right angle, straight angle)
  • Read a protractor (know which scale to use inside/outside)
  • Measure angles using a protractor
  • Construct an angle given a measurement
We'll wrap up our discussion of angles this week. Next up is quadrilaterals for grade four and triangles for grade five.

Literacy
We continued our discussion of the impact of Residential Schools on the First Nations Communities. For tomorrow's journaling activity, make sure you have chosen a character (Shin-chi or Shi-shi-etko) and a particular scene from the book (leaving the family, travelling to the residential school or arriving at the residential school). In our journal we will SHOW not tell the emotion of the character. Remember you will be writing in the first person or as that character. Here are some examples of showing not telling emotions:

Some interesting web-based programs to explore at home (we cannot access at school):

This is what you can do:

Science
Make sure you complete your questions on copper mining and read about Elliot Lake. Here's a little history about the city:

Reminders:
  • Permission form for Seussical the Musical (thanks to Gabe for letting us know that we didn't receive our permission forms!)
  • Please read carefully the information on our school Advent program to help people in our community in need (pink letter). The junior division will be donating Joy-FULL socks. We have until December 16th, Nighthawks to bring the Light of Christ to men, women and children who are living without the basic things we take for granted.
  • Please return math quizzes from last week signed.
