Math
Today we reviewed subtracting with regrouping. Make sure you understand what you do when you regroup. Use the link to review:

We also learned a short-cut way to subtract from a friendly number (multiple of 100 or 1000). Remember your mental math subtraction rule.

3000  (-1)   2999
1947  (-1)   1946
                   1053

Try these with the rule:

5000 - 286
8000 - 3894
6000 - 4386

Remember short test on Thursday.

Social Studies
Today we talked about the people of the Arctic. When we think of the Arctic, we think of the Inuit. But there are other people that live in the Arctic? Why would anyone want to move to the Arctic? What are some transportation challenges in the Arctic? How are goods (food, supplies) shipped there?
Tomorrow we will begin discussing the natural resources in the Arctic.
Please make sure you finish your flow chart tomorrow.

Today was a catch-up day. Did you get everything done? If you didn't, why not?

Reminders:

  • Please show your parents the letter about Student Led Conferences.
  • Return report cards, envelopes, interview sheets, tests
  • Practice your reading for mass. Remember to speak slowly and clearly.
