Math
Today we went over a few examples of actual objects with given capacities or masses. For example, what has a mass of about 5 g ? 50 g? 500 g? 5 kg? 10 kg? 75 kg? 1 tonne?

What has a capacity of 5 mL? 100 mL? 750 mL? 5 L? 50 L?

We also looked at division word problems with remainders. Sometimes we ignore the remainder, sometimes we have to add one extra to our answer (quotient), sometimes we split the remainder into parts. Please review:

Science / Reading
Great job reading with your group. Some leaders were very responsible and made sure each person identified a non-fiction feature on each page. One question that was consistently answered incorrectly was the question on cartilage. I think perhaps I misled you. Many of you answered it was a special kind of bone. Not exactly. What is cartilage? It's actually a kind of flexible connective TISSUE.

Social Studies
Grade fours studied the physical features of Ancient Rome and Judea. The environment was the most important part of an early society. Settlements began in certain areas of the world because of  the features in that particular region. Make sure you write the physical features of Rome and Judea and the importance of each physical feature or landform. Don't for water!

Grade fives also looked at the importance of the environment for our First Nations communities. Make sure you complete your two charts showing similarities and differences between food and shelters. Please look at the information on page 121 and 123 (wigwams and longhouses) to help with your comparison chart.

Tomorrow we will discuss how to write a compare and contrast paragraph using the information in one of the charts.

Religion
Our Easter story today is one of my favourites, Breakfast on the Shore. There is a wonderful conversation between Peter and Jesus. Share with a parent the meaning of their conversation.
