Science
Today we wrapped our discussion on Elliot Lake and what can be done with mining communities when mines close down. Tomorrow we will look at how mining can affect different community members. Please make sure you read page 33 to prepare for our discussion.

We will be having a Science Test next week after a few days of review.

Literacy
Today we finished reading "Shin-chi's Canoe".  Some great journal entries from the perspective of Shin-chi. How are Residential schools different and like St. Nicholas. Tomorrow you will be working on Venn diagrams.

Math
Please make sure you complete your angles booklet (except the last page). If you do not complete your homework,  have no way of knowing if you understand how to read a protractor and measure angles.

Quadrilaterals today. Explain to your parents why a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not a square. Look carefully at the quadrilateral tree. Questions to think about and explain....
  • Is a rectangle a parallelogram?
  • Is a trapezoid a rectangle?
  • Is a square a rhombus?
  • Is a rhombus a parallelogram?

What does this diagram show?

A trapezium is the British word for trapezoid.
