Literacy
Please make sure you stay in at lunch recess tomorrow to finish typing writing assignments (show don't tell emotion, quadrilateral robot paragraph, power point).
Next week we will have a literacy test on the stories we read from "What a Story!". You will be tested on the following reading strategies:
  • Main ideas / author's message
  • Asking green questions
  • Summarizing
  • Making connections
  • Characteristics of a narrative
  • APE responses
  • Before reading strategies
Throughout the month, we will periodically be having reading tests. You will be asked to answer multiple choice, short answer and APE questions after reading a short passage.

Math
Today we talked about congruent and similar shapes.

Similar polygons have the same shape and angle measure, but are different sizes.

Coordinates were a little hard for some of you. Tomorrow we will try making quadrilaterals on our geoboards using coordinates. REMEMBER the horizontal or x-axis number goes first.... across first then up. Please practice using the following game (beginning, easy or medium).

Social Studies
The physical or landform regions of Canada were introduced today. Please make sure your map is neatly coloured and labelled correctly using your Many Gifts textbook.
MEMORIZE THE CAPITALS, PROVINCES AND TERRITORIES OF CANADA. Make sure your quiz is signed and returned. We will start the morning with another quiz. Let Stompin' Tom Connors help you learn the capitals!

Did you find out the two things Prime Minister Justin Trudeau approved? This is an example of weighing the costs and benefits to people and the environment.
