Congratulations to all students involved in the play. Everyone performed magnificently. If you get the opportunity, please thank Mr. D'Oria and Mr. Morson. A verbal thank you or a written card would be a kind gesture to show your appreciation. Thank you to all parents who helped behind the scenes.

Math
We will be having a test on perimeter and area in the upcoming week. For the test you should be able to solve the following problems:

REMEMBER for a rectangle:

AREA = LENGTH x WIDTH

PERIMETER= (Length + Width) x 2

Olivia is planting a rectangular garden. She has 24 metres of fence. What are all the different lengths and widths she can make her garden. What is the area of each? Which dimensions give her the greatest area for planting?

Arianna would like to make a rectangular reading corner in the classroom. She has 12 square metres of carpet. What are some possible dimensions of the reading corner? What is the perimeter of each?

Austin is very excited about the pool his family is getting in their backyard. If the width of the concrete walkway is 2 metres around the pool, what is the area of the pool? What is the area of the walkway?

St. Nicholas will be installing a new playground for the junior students. At the base of the playground, they must lay woodchips. If it costs $12 per square metre for a layer of woodchips, how much would it cost the school?

We have also finished our study of mass. Remember:
1 kg = 1000 g
1 g = 1000 mg

Next up is volume and capacity.

KEEP PRACTICING MULTIPLCIATION FACTS AND MULTI-DIGIT DIVISION AND MULTIPLICATION.

Science
We have been discussing the CIRCULATORY system. The main parts of the circulatory system are the hear, blood and blood vessels.

Can you follow a drop of blood around the circulatory system? Use the diagram below to help you. Don't worry about the valves.

Yesterday we talked about the different parts of the blood and the different blood vessels. Do you remember the jobs of each of the cells and the different blood vessels?
