Math
Today we looked at VOLUME. The volume of the 3-D shape is how much space it takes up. It is measured in cubic units e.g. cm3

The volume of a RECTANGULAR PRISM  = Length x Width x Height

What is the volume of the prism below?

If you didn't finish your questions on mass, capacity or volume, please make sure they are finished tomorrow. The questions are challenging to complete without the linking cubes.

Test tomorrow on PERIMETER and AREA. Please review sheets in the your red duotang and blog questions. There will be 4 problems on the test. Make sure you know how to use a table to find all the possible lengths and widths given the area or perimeter of a rectangular area.

Science
What is the effect of exercise on your breathing rate and on your heart rate? Try again to locate your pulse. Repeat the investigation today if you had difficulty finding your pulse. Complete the questions under "Interpret your results." Do not complete "Communicating your results."

Read the passage below. Did your results show this relationship between breathing rate and heart rate?

Heart and Breathing Rates

Your heart rate, or pulse, is the number of times your heart beats in a minute. Depending on your age and level of physical fitness, a normal resting pulse ranges from 60 to 80 beats per minute. Your breathing rate is measured in a similar manner, with an average resting rate of 12 to 20 breaths per minute. Both your pulse and breathing rate increase with exercise, maintaining a ratio of approximately 1 breath for every 4 heartbeats.

Literacy
Some students have started their humorous picture book story. Remember to tell the story using DIALOGUE, adding a bit of narrative here and there to given the reader more information.

Remember:

  • Grade 4 Active Pass forms
  • Grade 5 permission form for Day of Faith on Friday (no cost)
  • Practice French play
